the International Perspectives
The International Perspectives (tIP) is a public programme which highlights inspiring examples on how facilities or activities transform an urban area into a metropolis.
tIP consist of a series of 7 public lectures (in English), with inspiring international speakers, and 7 private expert meetings. The tIP results will lead to a final debate and publication in spring 2012.
Lectures
The series will take place from september 2011 to march 2012. Each of the 7 lectures will take place on a Thursday evening, starting from 19.30. Every university of Randstad Holland will host a tIP, each focussing on a specific theme. These themes are: cultural clusters, social network city, flagship developments, self-organising city, knowledge clusters, international organisations and attractive city.
In each of the 7 lectures, an international speaker will present how facilities or activities are important to the development of a city or urban area. Following the lecture, peer reviewers will assess and discuss the possibilities of each international perspective for Randstad Holland.
Expert meetings
An expert meeting with selected academic, entrepreneurial and governmental guests will take place on the Friday following the lecture.
The expert meeting will explore the theme of the lecture in more depth, by examining specific facilities or activities in Randstad Holland.
The guest speaker will reflect on the research presented by the hosting university.
Board of studies
To manage the series of lectures, determine priorities and accomplish a knowledge network, a board of studies has been appointed. The board members are:
Bert van Meggelen (Maat-Werk, owner)
Arno van Roosmalen (Stroom Den Haag, director)
Annemiek Rijckenberg (Senior advisor urban development)
Tracy Metz (Harvard Graduate School of Design, guest researcher)
