| Doug Saunders | is journalist, European Bureau Chief for “The Globe and Mail” and author of the book ‘Arrival City: The Final Migration and Our Next World’ (2010). With his book, Saunders has questioned and changed the common views on migration, cities, population growth, foreign aid and politics. In Western Europe, especially in the Netherlands, amenities concerning integration of migrants are often facilitated by the government..
In the United States, however, it is usually organised by the market or (in)formal urban ethnic institutions. Some of the related subjects that were addressed are:
- What can we learn from the research into | neighbourhood 2060 | in Antwerp, Belgium.
- How important are facilities in attracting new inhabitants?
- To what extent can the governement play a role in facilitating this?

| the International Perspectives | is a programme, consisting of 7 public lectures organised by Deltametropolis Association in cooperation with the universities of Randstad Holland (RSH). Each tIP illustrates, from a different perspective, how facilities or activities are important for RSH and consequently contribute to its international image.
Lecture partners
The New Planning is a collaborative research project between Deltametropolis Association and TU Delft. A consortium of academic, civil society, government and market sectors is being created to meet the urgent need for a new model of strategic spatial planning that will keep the Netherlands at the forefront of territorial governance.
