| Philip McCann | is Professor of Economics at the University of Waikato and Professor of Economic Geography at the University of Groningen. In his article ‘Universities, Agglomerations and Graduate Human Capital Mobility’, he describes how only certain types of higher education institutions play a significant employment role in their local economies.
Randstad Holland (RSH) has 6 universities in the leading top 200 universities of the world (source: Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2011-12). The related main questions that were adressed are:
- What is the meaning of the results of his aforementioned research for the RSH universities?
- How can the Randstad Holland universities push forward the knowledge economy in the cities of Randstad Holland?

Each tIP illustrates, from a different perspective, how facilities or activities are important for RSH and consequently contribute to its international image.
